Cargo

* Hatch covers

middle hatchway The front hatch cover is constructed from 4 flexible plates of 5x5 holes (190), 2 flexible plates of 9x5 holes (191) and 2 flexible plates of 11x5 holes (192). The edges are stengthened on the side by strips of 19 holes (1a), on the front by a flat girder of 11 holes (103) and on the back by a flat girder of 15 holes (103k). Two strips of 11 holes (2) which overlap on 7 holes are fixed to the flat girder 103k by angle brackets (12), and a strip of 11 holes (2) is fixed to the flat girder 103 by angle brackets of 1x2 holes (12b); in the middle of these strips are fixed reversed angle brackets (125), which will be used as fixation point to the model. Moreover, the rounded shape of the hatch cover is obtained thanks to a bolt of 19mm (111) separating the flat girders from the reversed angle bracket 125 as shown by the detail; the corner gussets (108) allow to keep the shape in the center of the hatchway.

front hatchway middle hatchway -- front The hatch cover of the middle is constructed as shown on the opposite figure, from 5 curved plates (200), 6 flexible plates of 9x5 holes (191), 2 flexible plates of 11x5 holes (192) and 2 flexible plates of 5x3 holes (188). The front and the back of the cover are strengthened by two angle girders of 9 holes (9a). Those angle girders are connected by a strip of 5 holes (5) and a strip made of a strip of 11 holes (2) and a slotted strip of 14cm. (55).

The hatch cover is fixed to the model by the angle girders of 25 holes (8) arranged on the side of the hatchway. Moreover, the deck between the two front hatchways is slightly rounded thanks to a corner bracket of 3x3 holes (133) fixed in the center of the strip 11 + 55, and to a double angle strip of 3 holes (48) fixed to the deck and the corner bracket 133.

The hatch cover on the back is constructed from the original instructions.

* Deck accessories and loading masts

life-boat The life-boats are made of two strips of 11 holes (2) separated by a bolt of 28mm (111d), and linked at each end to a fishplate (10). The bottom of the life-boats is formed by two strips of 6 holes (4) which overlap on 2 holes, and screwed to the fishplates.

deck house deck house -- below The top of the deck house is a flexible plate of 5x5 holes (190) edged by two angle girders of 7 holes (9b) and two flat girders of 7 holes (103d). The deck house is fixed to the rear deck by two angle brackets (12).
