Meccano: model 10.3: Cargo-boat. Personnal addons (1/6)

Cargo (plan)Cargo

Here are some pictures of the 10.3 model (other pictures are also available), as well as some add-ons to the Meccano manual. The modifications I brought are mainly on the front hatch covers, the funnel and the front deck. I also added a floor in the cockpit, and a corridor along the hull, so that the model looks less skeletonal in the middle.

Here is a detail of the model before the add-ons: cargo avant modifs

The number of bolts/nuts is about 800.
(*) I use a lot of washers (~600) to protect the plates, so very often classic bolts are not long enough. If you don't use much washers, you should have twice less 111a/c bolts.

*The hull

bow -- side view bow -- below The hull is easily contructed from the manual. The bow is made as shown in the opposite picture. The chain for the anchors passes between two flat girders of 3 holes (103h) linked together by a narrow strip of 7 holes (235b) and fixed to the strip plate of 5x25 holes (197). The bottom of the hull is tightened thanks to two reversed angle brackets of 25 mm (124) linked by a screwed rod of 25mm (82).

For all the remainder, see the manual.
